AAG Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Associated Aircraft Group (AAG) was founded 30 years ago on November 1, 1989. Its three founders were pioneers in the helicopter industry and paved the way for helicopter use in business aviation as we know it today. Originally established in Danbury, CT., AAG made a name for itself and caught the attention of helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky, based in Stratford. Ten years after its founding, AAG was acquired by Sikorsky Aircraft.

AAG has long contributed to business aviation and is now the premier helicopter operator in the Northeast, with the largest fleet of Sikorsky S-76 helicopters in the region. The company manages and maintains a fleet of 10 aircraft, which is a mix of AAG core, fractionally owned and managed aircraft. In 1998, AAG moved its headquarters to the Hudson Valley Regional Airport in Wappingers Falls, NY. Expanding its footprint from Dutchess County, AAG now has bases in Teterboro and Trenton, NJ; Providence, RI; and most recently found its way back to Connecticut, adding a base in Bridgeport.

Providing safe and reliable service has been a priority since day one and AAG’s achievement of 66,000+ safe flying hours is proof of that. The FAA Part 145 Repair Station and Sikorsky Authorized Service Center at AAG have also demonstrated success by receiving the Aviation Maintenance Department Safety Award year after year from the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). Regularly undergoing comprehensive external audits, AAG demonstrates that it operates at the highest standards by attaining the most prestigious certifications in the industry: ARGUS Platinum, Wyvern Wingman, IS-BAO and the ACSF IAS Registry. It is the only helicopter operator to be owned by its Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Sikorsky Aircraft.

AAG has grown from eight employees at its founding to more than 60 employees. Some having been with the company over 20 years. In addition to executive transport, AAG serves its local community in many ways, supporting various charity organizations, including the Dutchess County Community College Foundation and the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. AAG is no stranger to supporting its local Sheriff’s Department and giving back to the Hudson Valley and Dutchess County community.
